This idea for the Advent calendar came to me through my daughter, she already loved this pre-Christmas time and her Advent calendar as a child and this is still the case today, although she is already 26 years old ;) She always says “You’re never too old for an Advent calendar”. It’s probably in the genes, because I also love the pre-Christmas season with all the lights and Christmas decorations. With this
Advent calendar, I want to leave her something, a little reminder of our time together in the beautiful pre-Christmas season.
There are 2 variants, either you have the “little doors” chronologically or mixed, you decide which variant you want to crochet. By popular request, I have also added a bonus for the 25th door! No matter where or how you celebrate Christmas, everyone can choose how many doors they make!
This advent calendar is suitable as a wall hanging or if you take a fluffy acrylic yarn and a 4mm crochet hook, as a dear tester Elke did, you will have a nice lap blanket (90 cm x 140 cm).
You can use any yarn, like Martina, a dear tester, even took a crochet yarn with a 1,5mm needle (52 cm x 86 cm)
You don’t have to worry about the beginning and end thread as we crochet horizontally, so when they are finished the threads are on top for hanging and on the bottom as fringes, if you like you can also twist them.
Applied stitches & technique:
Chain / Chain
DC Double crochet / Sc Single crochet
DC in back loop only / Sc in back loop only
Tr Treble in front loop of st 2 rows below / Dc Double crochet in front loop of st 2 rows below
Technique: Mosaic - Overlay
If you are a beginner, watch videos on YouTube. You will find many videos there. This technique is easy to learn.
Now it’s just a matter of waiting until 28.10.2022 and looking forward to a wonderful crochet time together!
